Finally, they’re putting the Kristin back in Christmas.Ī Christmas Winter Song (Lifetime, December 14 at 8 p.m.): Ashanti(!!!!!!) stars as Clio, a Christmas-shop owner who befriends Fred (Stan Shaw), a homeless jazz singer. Get Thee to Your Hometown Holiday ConcertĪ Christmas Love Story, From the Hallmark Hall of Fame (Hallmark, December 7 at 8 p.m.): This is not a drill! Kristin Chenoweth is starring in a Christmas movie! She plays a youth-choir director who falls in love with Scott Wolf, who plays the widowed father of a talented teen singer. The man is Buddy Cole for Christmas’s sake! You better watch this, you better do it for Scott. Anyway, Rachel has this habit of wearing little bows around her neck like she’s one of the Aristocats, and living legend Scott Thompson plays a staff member at the resort. But I thought they said Tuscany? They definitely say Tuscany. Snowbound for Christmas (UPtv, December 15 at 7 p.m.): Rachel works at a company called Education Solutions that makes, um, blueprints, and she gets snowed in with her handsome boss in a luxury Christmas resort in … Tuscany? Thanksgiving edit: UPtv also has ten new TV movies this holiday season, so in case you scoffed at this list’s mere 81 new Christmas originals, we’re now at 91. So start your Advent calendar early: Here’s what to watch, and when, sorted by holiday-movie trope. And to round out the wintry landscape, there are a couple of theatrical releases and a Disney+ film in the mix. Then there’s Netflix, which has had some of the least-disposable Christmas content of late with films like The Christmas Switch and A Christmas Prince. Hallmark will also have 24/7 Christmas programming, and both channels combined will feature 40 new Christmas films. Hallmark had so much Christmas content it had to split it over two channels: Hallmark and its sister channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. This year, Lifetime’s 24/7 Christmas-content schedule is called “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” and will feature 30 new features. Two prime offenders of the Christmas-creep agenda are dueling women-focused cable channels, Lifetime and Hallmark, which over the years have ramped up their made-for-TV holiday-romance output to near–Santa’s Workshop levels. Did your landlord turn the heat on in your building? Surprise! It’s Christmas now. Christmas comes but once a year, and that “once” happens to last for two entire months. To which I say, “Feh!” In this house, the only Christmas creep we choose to acknowledge is Paul Giamatti in Fred Claus. There are people out there who, every year, complain about “Christmas creep.” They fret about how all of the numbing, consumerist holiday malarkey - store displays and ad campaigns and Starbucks promotions - starts earlier and earlier every fall. The bear exited the cave and was so large that the men climbed onto a huge rock and prayed to the Great Spirit. He ran back to camp to gather the group and the bear went into a cave, blocking the entrance with his foot. Once they found the bear, it slapped the woman and changed her into a bear. The warrior told his wife to bring him to the bear. To protect the game, she submitted to his advances. The bear did not have a mate and he was angry. He asked who abused her and she told him that she was charmed by a large bear that lived in the rock. He pulled an animal skin off her shoulder to find scratches. She refused to answer any questions thus angering the man. One day, he waiting until she returned and asked why she was gone so long. The brave became suspicious that one of the others was courting his wife so he investigated to determine which man was missing when she left. He did not understand why she left as he was a good provider. After being camped in front of the mountain for several days, one of the braves noticed that his wife kept leaving the camp, longer each time. The group included warriors and their families because it was a safe place. Cheyenne LegendĪ long time ago, a group of the Cheyenne Indians visited Bears Tipi to worship the Great Spirit. Since that time, the Arapaho’s called the rock “Bears Tipi.” 3. The first star would be known as Broken Chest Star. The bear-girl climbed to the top of the rock and told the family that seven diamond-shaped starts would appear in the east and the first star would be brighter than the others. The bear-girl went to grab the ball, slipped and made big scratches on the rock while falling on her sister and breaking her chest. The sister accidentally dropped a ball as she was running and it ended up on a high rock. The sister told her brothers causing the dogs to howl. The bear-girl then left many scratches on her sister’s back and told her that if she told, the dogs will howl so the bear-girl will know. Eventually, one of the girls found the end bone and after picking it up, turned into a bear. The head of the lodge had sevenĬhildren five boys and two girls who agree d that the one who found the end rib of a buffalo will receive the most favors from their brothers. There once was an Arapaho lodge that sat at Bears Tipi. The bear gave up and left then the boys were saved by Wanblee the eagle who carried them back to the village. Mato dug his claws into the side of the mountain trying to get to the top with no luck. The grizzly was so huge that he could almost reach the top of the mountain. A rock went up into the air with the boys on top, almost one thousand feet high. Next, the earth shook and began to rise with the boys. The two prayed to Wakan Tanka, the Creator. The boys turned around and saw Mato the giant bear who chased the boys. On the fourth day, they felt like they were being following. The boys continued to travel and walked three days to the west. They came to a hill and found an antelope which they followed. They fell upon a stream with many colorful pebbles and followed it. After they shot their bows into the brush, they heard an animal make a noise so they investigated. Long ago, young Indian boys were lost on the prairie after playing together one afternoon and wandering off. Notice that many of the names given to Devils Tower translate to bears? There is an important reason for this. Throughout the generations, such stories have been told around fires and at ceremonial events. There are a number of myths and legends that surround this Native American sacred site. The Lakota Indians named it Mato Tipila or “Bear Lodge.” Other names include, Bear Rock, Tree Rock, Grizzly Bear Lodge and Bear Mountain. “Devils Tower” was a name given to the location by the white many in 1875 when Colonel Richard Irving Dodge incorrectly translated the native name to “Bad God’s Tower.” This eventually developed into the name “Devils Tower.” There are many tribal names associated with the sacred site. Tribes from across the United States consider Devils Tower to be sacred, not just local tribes. There are numerous legends surrounding the tower, most of which were passed down through the generations while sitting around a fire. The location was first made famous by the 1977 movie, “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” However, for generations before, the tribal people of the area considered it to be a sacred site. Located in Wyoming, Devils Tower is not like any other place on earth. You can do the same if you are working with a spreadsheet in Numbers. For $9.99/month or $99.99/year, you can run Office on up to 5 computers (Macs or PCs), get 20Gb extra Skydrive storage (a $10/yr value, though even that's way cheaper than, say, extra Dropbox storage), and 60 minutes of Skype calls per month (worth around $20/yr). With Office 2013's release, now all editions of both Office 2013 and Office 2011 for Mac are only licensed to be installed on one computer. Then, the Home and Student edition let you install Office on up to 3 computers in the same household, which was a great deal for families. Used to, all editions of Office let one user install Office on up to two computers, which worked great if, say, you had a desktop and a laptop. After releasing Office 2013 for Windows and the new Office 365 subscription version of Office, traditional Office pricing has gone up. Many find ways around paying for the latter (alternate apps work, there's the cheaper Adobe Elements apps that work for most stuff, and such), but Office is a bit trickier.Įspecially this year.
